We now have workplaces that can have up to 4 generations working there. I am training at a business where the oldest is around 72. That makes that workplace a good example of this.

People are staying longer in the workplace. For many, the recent stock market crash left them holding the bag and having to work longer. Retirement 55 went to retirement 65. Those who wanted to retire at 65, are finding a new reality.

As social media marketeers in a changed reality, we find ourselves having to market to these generations. My question to you is this: “Do you understand how each group thinks, feels and understands?” Here is a hint: for one group “Work” is a place you go. For another group, “Work” is something you do.

To market well to every group, you must understand them. This week, I will do a little blogging for you around these 4 groups:

  1. Traditionalist
  2. Baby Boomers
  3. Generation X
  4. Gen Y or also know as the Millenials

Something to keep in mind with all the different generations; they respond to different motivators. You will not reach them all with the same method.
