You feel the need to look at your smart phone or laptop to see what you have missed. What you are really missing might be right in front of you?

With everything so accessible these days, we can check our smart phones, tablets or laptops to see what is happening. It can almost become addictive; the quest for more information. We must have that morsel of information to share with those online.

Where this becomes a problem is when we are trying to be present for those who are sitting right in front of us. We will have to master the pressures that draw us away and subdue them; so that we can be present in the moment.

We have to trust that we will be able to catch up later with what is happening online. We must also value the person who is right in front of us. I have heard comments that those who do business really well know how to make every moment count. They can shut off the noise and tune out; so that they can tune in to the moment right in front of them.

So next time you and I go for coffee or we are having family time, we need to tune out the smart phone, tablet or laptop. We need to enjoy the moment, because life goes way too fast and stuff happens. Down the road, we might be glad we did. It may not seem like the most productive use of our time; but it’s true value will present itself later. My wife agrees with this and completely endorses this message 🙂

Yes, seize the day; but don’t let those precious moments pass you by either.
