Twitter has just set up a two-step sign in verification process for increased account security. First you log in and then you complete the process by typing in a six digit number. Here’s a how to video to show you how to set up 2 step verification for your Twitter account.

To turn off the 2 step verification process, simply click off the check box for “Require a verification code when I sign in” and save the changes.

When you add your phone to your Twitter account, please make sure you uncheck all the check boxes to receive text messages; unless you want to get double the tweets. You should be using the Twitter app for your messages.

On a final note, so far I have used my Twitter verification process to log in to a 3rd party program and it worked. It asked to log in as part of the connecting process and it worked. I am using Hootsuite as well so far without any problems. Please let me know what you are seeing.
