People will be persuaded to hire you and your business based on what they see others saying about your business. This is why you should be asking for testimonials and recommendations from others after you have done business with them. It’s not good enough for you to post information about your business and it’s successes. People are looking to see what others are saying about your business.
Here is one of my latest’s testimonials from Beth McNeill of McNeill’s Shell in Enfield, Nova Scotia:
What does a testimonial tell the reader?
- I deliver social media and computer training,
- What I taught Beth was able to be quickly used in her business. She acquired real skills that were transferable to her business,
- I have the ability to help people overcome their fears of social media and make them more confident social media users,
- I am available to help, even after the training,
- And lastly, I am worth recommending.
As simple as these words appear, they can be very powerful in generating confidence with others, and business opportunities. These words tell others how someone, who has taken my training, feels about what they experienced and what they achieved. Everyone wants to learn and feel like they have not wasted their time. Testimonials tell others what they can expect.
So what are others saying about you? Are you capturing that information and displaying it some where? I like to Favorite tweets that could be used to show people what others are saying about me. Here are some examples:
@4JeffBrown has inspired me to be physically social today. Any takers for a tweet up in DC today? Lunch? Late notice but WTH right?!?

I also put my testimonials on my Testimonial Page. I also have a form, on that same page, for people to share their praises of Alpha Social Media Inc there. I expect people to say good things about me and my business. Do you? Do you have a place for them to sing your praises? You should. If you don’t, go and create them today.
We sometimes do not brag enough about what great work we do. That said, there is no reason why we cannot encourage others to brag on what we do.
So here’s to a great day of business for you 😀
