I knew it to be true, but I am seeing it in action more and more every day. You are going to need help to be successful in business. No man is an island. I saw this when I sat down with my business coach for coffee. I have been struggling in the area of price point. What should I be charging for my services? This may not sound like a great thing to talk about in a blog post, but I know we all struggle to some point with this. My coach, Mary Morrison, asked me a few questions and it all began to fall into place. This is where I needed help. So where do you need help?
You are going to have to work with others in strategic alliances to get the best out of you and those you are connected with. I appreciate people like Terry Crosby, Tee Morris, Rob Cairns, Chris Voss, Mark Shaw, John Haydon, Scott Stratten and all my other social media friends for their input into my life. They help make “Me” a better “Me”. There is no question that this is true. There are so many names to acknowledge. So my question to you is this: “Who are your support people?” Regardless of what business you are in, even a non-profit business, you are going to need the help of others. You are going to have to bring value to the table as well as receive value from others. This is th new way.
We are going to have to overcome the competitive nature and adopt a co-operative nature to really be successful. I have met people, who would sooner climb over my back, than work with me. They will only go so far because they can only burn so many bridges. We are now in a new day where working together with others is what is required to get the job done. So think about how you are working with others. Are you burning or building bridges? Are you known as a great connector or a soloist? We need to take a serious look at how we are conducting ourselves if we want to be successful.
After all, there are so many awesome people to work with. I would love to go on a massive road trip and meet them all. What would you like to do?
