Using 3rd Party API to post your content into your Facebook can hurt your efforts when it comes to engagement. Your working hard to make things simple. It could be back firing.

According to Edgerank Checker… “Using a 3rd party API to update your Facebook Page decreases your likelihood of engagement per fan (on average) by about 80%.” This simply means that if you are adding content to your Facebook from an unofficial Facebook App, you are going to take a hit.

So that you do not get penalized by Facebook, I recommend posting your content directly into Facebook. If you are going to take a 80% and up hit for using 3rd Party APS’s, you are wasting your time.

You should also focus on telling your friends and fans why you are posting this there. They want to hear what your take is on the post. What do you see that’s different? What extra value could you contribute to the article?

I also recommend posting less, but making each post more relevant to your readers. Furthermore, since this will be experimental on your part, I recommend that you try something different as see what happens. I will be bringing forth more ideas in the future to guide you in this. For now, I want you to try something and see what happens. According to the article, we should get more comments and greater engagement if we simply post directly to Facebook ourselves.

Now there is still a place for 3rd Party API applications like Tweetdeck, Hootsuite and such. They can be used for Twitter and other sites. So far there is no sign that their use in LinkedIn is causing a problem. I will keep my eyes on this and let you know when something happens that will affect you.
