You never know who is watching you as you engage others on social media. What you do with others can affect how others perceive you. It may determine if they want to connect with you in the first place, or not. Be good to everyone on your social media. What comes around, goes around.

Many people feel invisible on social media and in real life. When we acknowledge them, we validate them as individuals. This is why it is a good idea to say “Hi” when you can to others. You do not know what is happening in their day. You might just be the only bright spot in their day thus far. Never underestimate how others can be impacted by what you do.
I hear in my travels that many people are talking about how people are losing their face to face social skills because of their increased social media activity. Social media should make us better when we encounter people face to face. As we practice our social media interactions, they should develop better interpersonal communicate skills in us. It is so important that we do not fail to develop our interpersonal skills, especially when it comes to face to face encounters.
Don’t allow there to be a disconnect between real life and your social media. They should be one in the same. As you are on social media, you should be in person when you meet people face to face. Be kind to others online and face to face.
As others see you interacting with people on social media in an encouraging and positive way, and we may have disagreements from time to time, they may want to connect and get some of your charm as well. The world is a great big sand box. We need to learn to play nice with others. These are not just wishful thinking. The world would be a better place if we treated each other with respect and played well together.
Now I know that we will not always agree. We can agree to disagree, and yet treat each other with respect. It surprises me how many on social media want to dish out the hate towards others. When I see others doing this, I am not rushing to connect with them. It’s actually quite the opposite. I am rushing to add them to my “Stay Away From” list.
One of my rules, at least so far, is to reply to all those you connect with me on social media. I know we are all busy, but I think it is important to acknowledge those who interact with us. I believe that everyone is special and deserves a response. Even when I get super busy, I will try to find a way to at least say “Hi”.
Remember that life is a culmination of simple things. When you do those well, it all adds up. When I leave this earth, I want to be thought of as someone who mattered. And with that in mind, everyone matters.
So as a business, value those simple interactions and don’t let moments slip where you can interact with others. When we become too busy for people, as a business, I think we have become too busy for success. There is more to life than the almighty dollar. Customers see businesses that are only interested in making money for what they are. And they will tell their friends.
Make time in business to smell the flowers and say “Hi” when you can. It does matter.
So here’s to a great day in business for you. I am cheering you on 😀
