We are seeing a lot of product placement in movies and TV these days. Make no mistake. This is all done on purpose. You need to think about this also for your business. When you are shooting a video, always take advantage of your surroundings. You might also include products that can promote yourself, your business and others. You never know what can happen.
Product placement to promote a business in not a new process. We see it everyday. But many of us never see it as an effective marketing tool. Sure we share a lot of video and pictures for our business on social media. But have you ever thought of including your stuff in the background to make a passive marketing statement?
I wish I had a quarter for all the Tim Horton’s and McDonald’s coffee cups I featured in my videos and pictures. I have learned to pay attention to where I am shooting pictures and video. Including the right things can make a powerful statement to others. You may not be saying it, but what’s in the background could be screaming to others. Don’t miss that opportunity.
With this in mind, think about what you could be promoting when you take pictures or shoot video. Take advantage of every situation when you can. Be aware of your surroundings. Add things to make your viewer think more about you and your business.
Your social media efforts can be enhanced when you do this. Be wise and be aware of what you can include in your social media props. You never know who is looking.
Do you think I could get a thumbs up from Staples Canada for doing this?
I had fun shooting this video and making the edits. One should always take advantage for the background and props when one can. You can recommend a business by holding up a prop for example. Here’s 1 minute to get you thinking of what you can do 🙂
What can you imagine?
