Who do I connect with on Twitter? Don’t you connect with everyone? These are some of the things I am looking for in a great Twitter connection.
I love to connect with lots of different types of people on Twitter. There are so many interesting people yet to meet and get to know. But I do have some criteria for whom I connect with.
One of the immediate things I look for in a great Twitter connection is @replies or @mentions. I like to connect with people who communicate and share with others. I like people who engage others in conversations. This is a big one for me.
If I see only one way broadcasting in a Twitter Profile, I am not very likely to connect unless the information is important and informative. For the most part, if it’s one way, that signals to me that the person on the only end only is interested in getting their information out. They are on their soap box so to speak. I just don’t have time for this.
Another thing I look for is this, “Are they helping others?” This is important to me. I like connecting with people who share and help others. I check their tweets over and sometimes go quite deep into their tweets to see if they do.
Another thing is this, “Are they interesting?” I like people who think out of the box and cause me to think. I like people who push me to think differently.
So do you they have to have a large number of followers for me to connect with you? No! I want to connect with people who want to engage others. This does not mean they have to have huge numbers.
So what are some of the criteria you use for connecting on Twitter? I would love to hear what you do.
