We get used to doing things a certain way based on our previous learning. That learning could be holding us back. We need to unlearn unproductive learning patterns so we can run ahead of the pack.
I have been doing a lot of social media training in the Halifax area for many months now. Google has been kind to me as a result. After hundreds of hours of social media input on to the Internet, I have been ranking well for:
- “Social media training Dartmouth” – 4 results first page,
- “Social media training Halifax” – 2 results first page,
- “Social media Dartmouth” – 3 results first page,
- “Social media Halifax” – 1 result first page,
- “Social media training Nova Scotia” – 1 result first page,
- “Social media Nova Scotia” – 1 result first page.
The question I have to ask is this; ‘What do I have to do to dominate more of Google first page‘? Maybe the more important question is this; ‘What do I have to unlearn so I can learn new strategies for dominating Internet search‘? Google is always changing their search parameters to stay relevant to their customers. This is where “Blue Ocean” thinking comes into play for me; and for you.
As a business, that does most of my social media training in the Halifax area, I need to make sure that the results I am getting now don’t give me a false sense of security. You need to think the same way. There is always someone else trying to get more results on first page Google. There’s only 10 spots.
For today’s walk away, I want you to start thinking about what you have learned in the past. Is that learning still relevant? Or is it getting in the way of future success?
We could look at my search results, as an example, of yesterday’s learning paying off. I am grateful for where I am today, don’t get me wrong. But I am aware that old thinking patterns need to be replaced with new ones. For me to rank well on Google for “Social Media Halifax”; I am going to have to take it to a new level. And that new level requires lots of new learning……. and “UnLearning”.
So let’s get “UnLearning” and see what we can do for our businesses. Have a great Monday.
There are a two simple thing to do as Google is now trying to integrate results from the same site….
1 – Create subdomains or subfolders with very different content.
2 – Create mini-sites to point traffic to your main domain with relevant and matching content, but not duplicated of course
@Manual handling training Thanks for the comment. Appreciate your input. Sorry about now getting back to you sooner. Just got back from Cuba. Have an awesome day.
