When someone does something nice for you, you thank them. When it’s on Twitter, you still should thank them when possible. When someone puts the extra effort to share one of your tweets with their followers, as a retweet, you should thank them.

Well how do you keep track of this in the first place if you want to do this? In you notifications setting on Twitter.com, you can have Twitter email you when someone retweets you. So to thank your retweeters, all you have to do is go to your email Inbox, and see who retweeted you. Copy and paste the Twitter usernames into a tweet and you are rolling.

Acknowledging and thanking people for their efforts helps build Twitter community connections. You are now seen as a giver, and not just as a taker. You are actually contributing to the community.

Here is an example of what I am talking about:

Thanks-For-Retweets

Now it does not hurt to do it with a sense of humor either. I like to make people smile all along the way. People will remember that a lot longer that just a quick shot across the bow. When you acknowledge people for their acts, it does not hurt to wish them a great day and such. Remember that people generally do not get a lot of well wishes throughout the day. Yours might just be the only one.

Who knows, they might even retweet you all the more. And that’s not a bad thing.

Wishing you a great day in business. Live long and prosper 🙂
