There is a lot of buzz around social media and the London Olympics this year. Athletes are embracing social media and pushing out real time information to their fans. Will you be engaging as well?
Just imagine as the soccer game plays out, people are tweeting and Facebooking each other in real time. For those who cannot be in the stands, social media will give them an first hand view of the game; so to speak.
I remember people bringing radios to games so that they could hear the announcers describe the plays in greater detail. This created a better experience for the fans and how they experienced the game. Now social media is doing this. People are sharing their ideas and thoughts on events as they happen.
So what if we could engage with athletes as they prepare for their event? What if we could get their take on how things went? Can you imagine what this will do for the athlete and the sport as a whole? This is bound to bring a new excitement to all the events and the athletes themselves.
We could be privy to up and close thoughts from the athletes themselves. We might gain greater understanding as to what really happened on the field. I can just imagine all the cool things we could learn and share.
So what are you waiting for? Find the person you want to engage and cheer them on. Let them know that you are cheering for them. It might just give them the extra boost they need to do better. But remember that they are getting their mind set ready to compete. Don’t expect an immediate response. Just be happy to cheer them on for now. Once they are in a place to connect, they just might.
