Check this out and see what you think?
The Skype icon appeared after my name in notifications, Wall Posts and even in the Facebook Chat box. When I changed my status to “Online”, the Skype icon changed from yellow “Away” to green in real time. I could click the icon and initiate a call. Was I seeing something or did I actually get a quick sneak peak at a new Facebook feature coming. I had a chance to discuss this with Terry Crosby (@TerryCrosby) and she had not seen it yet. Terry and I think that this could be something new. I stand to be corrected on this if anyone knows something else.
Imagine being able to click on the Skype icon on Facebook and starting a call. This could be a serious threat to Google if this is really what is going on.
I would love to hear your thoughts.
Are you using Skype 5.0 for Windows? They have recently added Facebook integration to their latest download…

The version of Skype was one version from the new current version. We know that Facebook News Feed can be viewed in Skype. But in this case, I was seeing the Skype icon in various Facebook components: Wall posts, notifications, chat window. Everywhere I could see my name, there was a Skype icon after it. I could click on the icon and initiate a call from any of these places.
t was really cool Chris. You had to have Skype installed on computer to see this. Those not listed in Skype did not have icons beside their name.
The reality of it is Skype and Facebook need to band together to fight off Google. Competition is good for the market and both Facebook and Google need to be competitive.
You are right Rob. Facebook and Skype seem on the road to marriage, so to speak. The only question is what will that look like. I trust I had a sneak peak.
