I have loaded three iFrame apps onto my Facebook Pages so far. Two on the Jeff Brown – Social Media Training and one on the Alpha Computer Training and Consulting Facebook Page. All three apps are working and displaying their content properly.
One of the things I am noticing with the Welcome landing page on the Jeff Brown Social Media Training Facebook Page is that it is loading a little slow. I tried very hard to make sure that the file size for the iFrame was as small as I could make it. Size does count for load time.
I am impressed with the FLV video so far. This allows me to display a video from my web site that can not be viewed else where. I like the idea of being able to offer special content here and no where else. This gives fans a reason to return to my Facebook Page to see things that they can not view elsewhere. I plan to bring more special content there.
I like the ability to place a Spry Accordion effect on the About Jeff app. This allows me to show all my content above the “Fold” of the web page. The viewer does not have to scroll down.
I do miss not able to put FBML code into the iFrames. So far I can not do so. It makes sense; the iFrame page simply loads outside content onto the Facebook Page. I have to remember there are lots of cool FBML stuff that can still be displayed on the FBML apps. So for now, a combination of FBML and iFrames is the way to go. Cool looks and functionality still need to happen on the Facebook Page.
So what are your thoughts on the iFrame apps? What are you seeing with your iFrames?
