Your Facebook Page requires an effort to create visibility and success. I tell my social media class in Halifax that a post and run strategy is literally a waste of time. Here are some thoughts that I hope will give you an idea of what really is required.

Here’s some ideas to help you get thinking about what and how you are posting:

  • You are going to get between 2 and 3 posts per day, according to recent stats. Too many posts could annoy your Fans. Make sure you spread your posts out wisely; maybe morning, afternoon and evening. Post smartly.
  • If you put up just anything as a post, it might not become a Top Story. Your posts, because you only get a couple each day, need to be well thought out. You need to use a sniper approach instead of a shot-gun approach. Think about what you want each post to do.
  • Use your Facebook Insights to investigate what your fans are really liking. Check to see what time you should post as well.
  • Once you post, then the real work begins. You need to interact and engage your fans around the post. Thank them for the LIKES and comment on their comments. Like their comments, etc.
  • The Facebook Pages app on your smartphone will greatly help you engage fans. Use it when you are away from your computer.
  • You will have to use “Boost Post” every now and then to help create greater visibility for your post. That’s the “Pay to Play” model that Facebook has started. They want you to pay for visibility.
  • Above all, you are going to have to be smart in how you operate your Facebook Page. It’s going to take some time to get the job done. You will get faster at it as your skills increase.
  • Don’t be fooled by people who tell you it’s easy and hardly any work at all. Business is work. Marketing is work. And a Facebook Page is work. Work smartly.

So here’s to a great day in business for you. All the best for a great successful day.
