Here’s a Twitter tip for my Halifax social media participants. My friend @MarkShaw says that… “Twitter is real people talking about real stuff, right now & in real-time!”. It’s not a place just to post and run. Watch this video to find out more.
Some of the best moments happen on Twitter when real people get real about what they share and how they engage others in real-time. Conversation can create opportunity and lots of unintended consequences.
Talking about things that matter to you and to others gives Twitter a real-time value. People like to interact, ask questions and receive answers in real-time where possible. Twitter is great at delivering that. So don’t just be one who pushes content out. Get into some conversations with others.
Here’s some tips on how to get the ball rolling:
- Ask someone something about what they tweeted. Make your question easy to answer for them.
- Add a thought to what they tweeted to get them thinking. This could bring on a further comment or question.
- Share a great tweet with someone and ask them what they think. This makes you a great connector and a bringer of great information.
Remember that Twitter can be fairly real time if you allow it to be. Your smart phone will help you get the ball rolling and keep it going. When you can, plan something and see how far you can go with it.
So here’s to a great day of business for you. Remember that you can keep Twitter real for you and your community by being real yourself.
