Most people who come to one of my social media programs in Halifax already have much of their social media set up. What they want is to know is this… “What can they do next to make their social media work?”. Here’s one social media tip to get us moving forward.
#socialmediatips Try an idea, then observe the results. Social media is about adjusting till you find something that works.

When it comes to using social media successfully for our business, one of the things that we will have to get used to is trying new things and adjusting our social media strategy. What works for one business might not work for our business. But we still need to try things to see what will work.
It is always good thing to look around at what others are doing, and try to find something that we can use ourselves. But we have to remember that our target audience might be different that the other business audience we were observing. Their target audience may be different from others.
For us, we have to try and observe what results we produce. This is where social media analytics can help. It can show us the results of our efforts. When we find something that works for us, we have to focus in on that.
For example, I have been playing with the #socialmediatips hashtag on Twitter. I have been sharing social media tips with that hashtag over the last few weeks. From the results that I have been noticing, I seem to have found a strategy that is getting me more retweets, favorites and attention. I had previously tried other tactics on Twitter that had not produced as much attention and interest from others. Now I have found a strategy that appears to be working for my business.
The #socialmediatips hashtag had been around before. I had just never used it in my tweets. This hashtag is allowing me to share social media nuggets with my Twitter community. It is also bringing in a lot of new followers as well.
So what is my advice for you? Try something and see if it will work for your business. You may have to tweak what you are doing in your posts. See what works, and what does not work, and then adjust. As a business, we have to experiment with different things.
Social media is constantly about adjusting and changing tactics and strategies. Remember that as seasons change, we may have to adjust our strategies over time. When others see that we have found something that is producing results, others will imitate us. That’s OK. When that happens, we simply adjust again and move on. Let others fight over the scraps in the RED OCEAN. Adjusting tactics allows us to be a BLUE OCEAN thinkers and doers.
It is important that we have to get used to the idea that our social media tactics will change. We need to get used trying new things and adjusting when needed.
So let’s keep things moving. Here’s to a great day of business for you.
