If your social media only exists on a computer screen, you are missing out of the real benefits of social media. Social media implies social.
Continuing with the theme of social this week, I want to encourage you to take your social media off of the computer. If you can, try to meet someone on social media for a coffee.
I did this on Saturday with a guy named Mark. I had not met Mark before. We connected on Twitter. Mark was new to the area. So we met for coffee. It was awesome to meet Mark face to face.
This should be one of your goals for social media. Now I know that distance can make this hard to do. But you could connect with some local people in your area.
There are a few people in Halifax that I need to get together with. It’s been hard to do this because of my crazy training schedule for the last several months. Now that the training schedule has lightened up a bit for the Summer, I plan to connect with them.
Now please don’t get me wrong. I am not talking about connecting and running away with someone. So get those thoughts out of your mind if they are there.
As a business, you need to create “Like” and build good business relationships with people. That’s what I am talking about.
When you post on your social media, you need to be social as well. Simply posting links is not good enough. Even companies like Ford have someone that socializes with customers. Your business can do this as well.
So what is our walk-a-way for today? Just don’t be social online. You have to move social to a face to face when ever possible. Use your social media to start the process. Get out there 🙂
