Bruno Aziza wrote this “You might get thousands or millions of followers because of your brand, but if you don’t do anything to solve the basics of your customer systems, your social media strategy will ultimately fail” very early this morning. And Bruno is right. Your systems have to be customer friendly and useful.

Let’s even take this even further. What good is having any amount of followers unless you can help them become your customers; by solving their problems. A business usually exists becasue there is a need or a problem to be solved. My question is this: “Are you solving any problems or filling a need for your customers”?

Your social media needs to be set up to help your customers and prevent any problems that could arise from your social media. For example, you set up and Twitter account. A customer asks a customer service question and you do not respond. That’s not a customer friendly social media system. The customer was not helped in this example.

As a business, you need to develop a reputation for solving customer problems. That’s essentially why you got into business in the first place. So you need to monitor your social media environment to be receptive to your customer needs. It’s all about being there for your customer. I am not talking about constantly looking at your social media. But it is a good idea to check regularly when you can.

You are going to have to solve the issue of how do you monitor all your social media efforts around you. There is too much to view if you have a lot of followers. One suggestion that I could make is to use Hootsuite. It is an all in one “Grand Central Station” application that helps you monitor all your social media in one place.

You will not longer have to go to all your social media web sites to login to use them. Hootsuite can help you do that all in one place. Hootsuite is also available on mobile smart phones. Another plus.

Just bring all you social media into Hootsuite. Monitor what you need to and send one message to various applications all at once. It’s just that simple. But always keep this in mind, think before you press the send button.
