It’s been a while since my last social media class in Truro, but I have gotten the opportunity to deliver social media training for business on my own turf . 13 different businesses and not-profits are participating in this Introductory program. We will all learn together as we discover how to use social media for business.
What do you mean by “We will all learn together?” I have never delivered a program where I did not learn something new from my participants. We expect the participants to learn new things. But what about the instructor? As the instructor of this social media program, I look forward to being pushed into new learning moments. There will be many years of business experience in the room and I plan to maximize everyone’s time by having them participant in the knowledge sharing. Everyone contributes to the success of the program.
As a workplace education instructor, my job is to bring new learning. But my job also entails helping participants share their wisdom and knowledge with each other. I will have 100’s of years of business experience present in the room. That wisdom and knowledge is going to get shared. After all, we all have a different slant on business. So we can all bring something new when it comes to using social media for business.
One of the benefits of workplace education is that participants learn some new skills one week and get to test drive that new knowledge to see what it produces. If it works, great. If it does not, it provides a great learning moment around “adjusting”. Most programs go from 10 to 12 weeks in length. There is lots of time for learning and gaining new skills. There will be lots of time for adjusting tactics and strategy.
So keep your eye open for these new social media participants and encourage them along. There’s so much for them to learn to make social media work for business. Do you remember when you first started off?
