I am always looking for ways to help those around me do better. This includes social media tips from time to time. Reaching out and connecting is something we should be striving to do daily.
It’s not that I am in a rush to grow my Twitter followers as it is that there are so many cool people out there to meet. Just today I reached out by tweeting EJ David @StreetoutreachR, Mark Horvath @hardlynormal, Cat Active Media @catcreativem and a few others. I had some awesome conversations with them.
I was also able to help others make some valuable connects as well. Reaching out is a real important part of social media. It gives you an opportunity to connect with others. It also allows you to be a connector for others . It’s one big awesome community. Opportunity happens when you dare to reach out.
Now I love to post valuable information that I think will be of interest to my followers, but I also love the chats and great connect moments. They are way too much fun; and I love fun 🙂
So how do you find these people? You can look on other people’s profiles for interesting conversations. You can also use #hashtags to find great people. How ever you find them, when you do, you need to be brave and reach out. There are so many great people yet to be discovered. Sure it might be scarely at first, but it will get easier as you do it.
So what do I say? You might look at what they have been saying and reply around their thoughts and comments. You might even just say “Hi”. What ever you do, just keep it simple and see where things will go. Remember, nothing ventured, nothing gained. What do you really have to lose?
There maybe even people that you might get to go out with coffee with. That’s the real end result for social media as far as I am concerned. Connecting with people at Meet ups or just getting together some where for a coffee. That’s where they can get to see what you are really like; and you them.
You might even be able to help some one on social media that has a need. I recently, along with some online friends, was able to help a woman who was ripped off by a bad contractor. By connecting with people, you might get a chance to do good. It can happen.
So what’s our walk-a-way for today? Make an effort each day to reach out and connect with someone you don’t know. This will help build your social media community and help make the world a better place. It will also give you greater visibility, if you want that. There might even be a few coffees for you in the future.
