You need to schedule and then protect time to do your social media marketing or it will not happen. But how do you make time for your social media in Halifax, Dartmouth, Truro or elsewhere when you feel so busy already?
Once you have your social media accounts set up, you need to determine which social media accounts you are going to use for your business. Remember that it is better to do a few well than many poorly. Spreading yourself out to far is not wise when you are starting off. It would not be a crime to just start with one network and do it well.
So when are we going to have time to do our social media marketing? One of the best solutions I know of is to schedule some time right into your calendar. Yes, schedule a block of time, or blocks of time, to do your social media marketing. Once you have scheduled time, make sure you follow your schedule. A schedule is no good if one does not do the tasks in the schedule. Do not allow other things to crowd into that time either.
You can use scheduling applications like Buffer or Hootsuite to set up a few posts to go out throughout the day. Then all you have to do is respond and engage with others on your smart phone.
Social media has to become apart of your business life-style. We do not become slaves to social media, but we want to find ways to do our social media naturally, so that it is not a burden to us or our business.
Make sure you also set a time during the day to monitor your social media as well. You want to know what others are saying about you, and you want to get back to customers who may have questions about your business, or your products and services.
Make sure you stick to your social media schedule and really make it “naturally” part of your daily life. It’s when we make our social media efforts random and disjointed that it takes more effort than it should. The more you use social media, the more natural it will become.
So come up with a plan and follow it. Maybe you have six 10 minute segments spread throughout the day. Maybe you start your day off with 30 minutes and schedule some posts. Then take some time throughout the day so check what happens. What ever you do, make it easy so that you can be successful. Ease your way into social media, and make it fun. As a business, you do not need anymore work. But you do need to market your business to your customers.
So here’s to a great day in business for you.
How do you find time to do your social media? Yes, it does take time to do it and have visibility throughout the day 🙂
All the good intentions in the world will not make your social media happen. You have to have a plan.
