Most of the time you will never know who has been watching you and your Internet activity until you get a call out of the blue or some other type of connect.
I posted a blog on the Twitter virus and made a few good comments on it. I was surprised that so many felt that someone was really saying bad things about them. It let’s us know where our thinking is. So many were affected by this virus as it spread across Twitter. Time to think more positive folks š
What really surprised me was the link back from Oprah.com blog. I had no idea that they had seen this. I did not find this out till I checked the Google Analytics for my blog. Yet there where no comments on the blog. Had a written a dud? Looks like the Oprah staff liked it.
Regarding your stuff, many times there are no indications that people are looking at your stuff apart from some crude analytics that you might be using. It’s only when the call comes for you to do something that it becomesĀ obviousĀ that you are reaching well out into the Internet. You might be very surprised.
One person I know, favorites my tweets and retweets them later. I only learned this after I spoke with them over the phone. You never know.
One family member is a lurker. They hardly post. But they look at a lot of things online. They often tell me what so and so is doing. Yes, people do that.
I had a chance to use the Radian6 platform to get a better understanding on how this could happen. On Twitter, you are not getting everything coming your way. You could miss many @mentions, for example. When someone blogs about what a great job your are doing, you could miss it. Even using Google alerts is spotty and late at the best. My point, you are not seeing everything.
Be encouraged. You are making great inroads. Your stuff is getting out there. You just don’t see it yet. Keep on using social media, blogging and putting more web content up. Google is your friend. Feed Google.
When you feel discouraged and think you are not getting any where; think about me andĀ theĀ Oprah.com blogĀ back link. It really blessed me. It could happen to you! You can do it! I’m cheering you on right now. You can matter. You can have a life of significance. This does happen for the everyday “Joe” and “Jane”.
So let’s make some noise out there folks. Let’s get out there and get on someone’s radar today. It could mean some unexpected business for both of us š
Jeff,
Thanks so much for mentioning us in this post. Did you know that you can set your Twitter notifications now to let you know when someone favorites your tweets? Pretty neat little feature.
Best wishes,
Trish, Community Manager @Radian6
@@Dayngr@radian6 Yes Trish, I saw the “Favorite” tick box and have them going to my email. Love this feature.
Missed you at coffee. Ralph talked about Freddie. What do you think?
That sure would be fun thought we’re scheduled to the brim! I haven’t a clue how close or far you are from Freddy butĀ I do know it’s much closer than Florida so if there’s a chance to meet, I’d love it. š
