Leadership is required in your organization or business when using social media. The consequences can be grave when people are allowed to post without training and direction.
I am presently preparing my PowerPoint presentation for an upcoming conference that I am speaking at next week. It will start with an example of a major corporation who set about letting untrained individuals post on their Twitter account. We can learn a lot from the mistakes of others.
I want to say that I am not for the rigid controlling of individuals and social media. But I am for seeing individuals get the training they need to do social media well. What we write remains forever on the Internet. So we had better get things done right the first time.
Now I know that mistakes will happen. But we need to work at not being stupid and doing a professional job first time out. Training can help reduce mistakes by providing guidelines and best practices to follow.
Leading your organization or business in social media requires a lot of thought. Good leadership can produce great results. Lack of leadership can lead to disaster. Please make sure you provide good leadership to see the results you want with your social media.
Leadership involves influence, character, vision and so much more. Make sure that you lead well. The rewards are great if you do it well.
This blog post is coming to you via my Blackberry Playbook. I love the freedom it is giving me and my business.
