If you are going to use social media for business, you are going to have to make sure that your software and your equipment is up to date. Bad things can happen when we fail to update our devices and our software. Bad things are not good for business in Halifax, Dartmouth, Truro, Nova Scotia or elsewhere.
Regardless if you are using a Mac or a PC, there are software updates that need to be applied on a regular basis. These software updates increase the security and functionality of the devices. Hackers and scammers are hoping that you do not update your software so that they can take advantage to potential vulnerabilities.
Your social media applications on all your devices require updates. Most come automatically to you. But one can always manually check to see if there are any updates available.
Many social media application updates add functionality to the applications as well as bug fixes. A bug fix is simply something in the application that is not working that has been fixed with some software update. Maybe something was not working right with photos for example. A bug fix, in that case, might improve camera software operation.
In these wild, wild west days, my biggest concern is security with these social applications. One such example was the Apple iPhone hack, where people could get into your password protected phone simply by doing a few key steps. Thankfully this vulnerability was fixed with a software update on the iPhone.
When it comes to a PC, don’t ignore the Windows Updates. Apply them as quick as possible. Many of these updates do have to do with security and making your PC less vulnerable to a hack.
So on this Monday, take a moment to consider where you are at with your Mac, your PC or your smart phone. You security is your responsibility. Make sure you check to see if your devices are up to date. Have a safe Monday.
