To get anywhere in business, you are going to have to make strategic alliances with other individuals and businesses. Whether your business is in Halifax or Hong Kong, you need to make the right strategic alliances. There is value in making great business connections.
As a small business we cannot do it all by our self. We need to use strategic business alliances to build a successful business. We need to surround ourselves with smart and successful people. They are out there. We just need to find them.
The speed of which business is moving is way too fast for most of us to handle it alone. We need the skills of others to supplement what we are already doing in business. We help them as they help us.
Many of us have seen an episode of Survivor on TV. It’s a game about strategic alliances. The hope of these alliances is to move one further in the competition towards a million dollar prize. And somewhere along the way, these alliances fall apart. That’s what people are expecting.
But unlike the TV show Survivor, strategic business alliances are built with a mutual long-term goal in mind. Back stabbing is definitely a bad move in the business arena. These alliances have to create a win-win scenario for all parties concerned.
It is a good thing for us to connect with others outside of our area and with those who can mutually benefit from cooperation in our local area as well. The people that we work with should be experts in one field or another. We should be an expert in one area as well so that we can bring something good to the business table.
Social media is but one means to find and connect with people that we can build a strategic business alliance with. First we find them, and hopefully, we meet them face to face where possible. A face to face meeting provides us with a first impression. We can really size people us when we meet them in person.
At the end of the day as business owners, we need to come to the understanding that we cannot do it all our self in today’s fast moving economy. We need the help of others. Have you considered doing this? Are you activity doing this right now?
