Every Friday on Twitter, you get to recommend people for your followers to follow on Twitter. You will see the Twitter hashtag #FF in tweets. #FF stands for Follow Friday. This is a great way to highlight someone and give them a boost on Twitter. This is a great opportunity because you can help the person you are recommending gain new connections. But what is the best way to make a Follow Friday recommendation.

Here’s what many #FF recommendations looks like on Twitter:

Now I am not saying that Shelley Fishel is doing anything wrong. Shelley is recommending people for her followers to look at and potentially follow. This is a good thing. But won’t it be better if we knew why Shelley was recommending someone. That would even be better. Remember that the tweets are coming at you fast and furious in the Twitter News Feed. You have to make a quick decision to act as the tweets flow downward. What will stand out? What will grab people’s attention? For me, a list of people in a tweet to follow is not as great as a single recommend accompanied with a great reason why I should follow them. Don’t you think so as well?

Now here’s is a Follow Friday with heart and will make you really want to follow someone on Twitter:

That tweet from RunwayDan is inspiring and uplifting. Doesn’t just make you want to go out and follow @jSteud right now. RunwayDan tells us why we should stop and pay attention.

So if you want a recommend, don’t just wait there. Go and recommend some one first. But instead of recommending a bunch of people at one time, why don’t you recommend one person at a time and tell your followers “why” they should follow that person. That might help them get more people looking in their direction. It certainly will be easier for your followers to make a decision to follow or not.

Here’s to a great day in business for you. I’m cheering you on… “You can do it!”
