I have been a real supporter and promoter of RIM and it’s products. But lately RIM has been real hard to cheer RIM on. I like supporting Canadian companies. But what’s going on RIM?

I have owned three Blackberry phones and I was one of the first few to buy a Blackberry Playbook. I love Blackberry phones and I teach Blackberry skills in my Workplace Education programs. But lately RIM, I feel that  you are letting me down big time.

I have always seen myself as a promoter of RIM products. I have always tried to see the best in everything you made. But RIM, it’s getting hard. Now I see you are laying staff off. The writing is on the wall. You need to fix your problem now, or all that great Canadian know how will end up owned by Microsoft or someone like that.

He’s a suggestion and you may not like it. I always try to provide a solution when I point out a problem. Any one can find and complain about a problem. The key is providing a possible solution.

Here’s how I see it: the two CEO’s (Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis) at the top have lead RIM as far as their skills have enabled them. It’s time for someone like “Steve Jobs” to come in and lead RIM to the next level. I am not saying that the two CEO’s are bad people. On the contrary. They have done well early on in the process. What I am saying is this… they have tapped out their leadership skills and need to pass the job on to someone with the leadership skills to take RIM to the next level. Please hire someone who can get you there Mike and Jim!

So RIM, please make me proud again. Please let me smile when I say that I own a Blackberry product. Please produce products that make Apple, Android and any other phone company cringe, as they wonder what the hell they are going to do next.

Please throw me a bone Mike and Jim. I am cheering for you RIM. You can do it. I believe you can. You started off in the right direction with the right stuff. Make us proud again and kick some butt 🙂
