I am working @Dave_Carpenter ‘s plan for #2012Plan. Dave suggests that before we look ahead to 2012, we should look at what we have done thus far this year.

For me 2011 was a very busy year in social media and computer training. As I reflect back, here are some of my major achievements. (Look back yourself and write down what yours were.)

  • Major crimes have been solved because of the Facebook “Leave A Tip” app that I created earlier. I was recently listed in the Toronto Sun as one of  Toronto’s top crime fighters; along with a host of many others. The Facebook “Leave A Tip” app has gone all over the world doing good.
  • This year saw my real estate professional clients getting more leads off of social media and turning them into sales. It was not uncommon to have 3 or more leads at each training event. I am very proud of my friends who have embraced new social media skills and applied them to their benefit. It was a pleasure to equip them and make their wallets/purses fatter.
  • I am very proud of all the businesses I have trained on social media who have increased their visibility this year. One business made a Twitter connection that enabled their business to make key connections in government. Another business connected with an industry giant. This opened up a new opportunity to further increase their business visibility. I am proud that I played a role in teaching businesses how to make those great connections.
  • I am also proud to have equipped individuals with greater computer skills in the workplace. There is a great joy is seeing faces light up as they demonstrate their newly learned skills. I took part in a research project this Summer on workplace education and business. I had the privilege of seeing measurable results from my training in a health care facility.
  • I have also have the opportunity to speak on social media for many events this year. Many now have a greater understanding of social media. From understanding comes implementation.
As I look back at the year, I can honestly say I mattered. Lives are better because I have lived and shared. I hope you will look back and say the same thing…”That you mattered this year.” As we move ahead, let us live a life of significance and make the world just a little bit better.
