Radian6 is search engine heaven. I had a chance to see what Radian6 could do and I was impressed. When it comes to social media, Radian6 gets it.
My adventure to Radian6 first started at the Truro Mall. I received a message that I just lost my Foursquare Mayorship to a guy named Ralph Bastarache. I thought to myself, who was this Ralph guy?
I quickly replied to Ralph that I was going to send my daughter down to the Mall with my smart phone to reclaim my mayorship. When you visit and check in to a location a few times, you get to be the mayor of that location. It’s like a game. People fight over who gets to be a mayor of a certain location. Ralph and I were having great sport over who would rule the Truro Mall.
Ralph was great and I told him we would have coffee next time he was in town. I would buy. I still had no idea who this Ralph guy was. As we engaged each other more and more on social media, I found out that Ralph worked at Radian6. Eventually we met for coffee. We made plans to have someone show me what Radian6 could do. In the meantime, Ralph gets promoted and relocated to Saint John, New Brunswick.
Ralph did not forget me though. He connected me with Kelly at Radian6 in Halifax. I was going to get a chance to see what Radian6 could do first hand. Meanwhile, I had a friend that I wanted to show Radian6 to. So after connecting with Ralph and Kelly, we gained a private session at the Halifax headquarters of Radian6. My friend and I were given a peak into what Radian6 could offer business. Both of us were impressed.
As I spoke with Kelly, I discerned that she really “Got” social media. It is my experience that not everyone gets social media. As Kelly and I chatted, I was impressed with her level of understanding. Let me add this, just because you can do social media does not mean that you understand social media.
After the private 45 minute demo, my friend and I left with a new appreciation of social media search. I knew Radian6 was good, but I was impressed with what they could really do. Radian6 is the future of business. It is amazing what information can be obtained by the process of search.
It’s amazing where you can end up because of social media. I managed to take a Truro Mall mayorship and turn into Radian6 gold. I am thankful to Ralph and Kelly at Radian6 for opening the door to an inside view of social media search.

What a great story! A true testament to being social while using social media. I’ve found that when you’re just yourself, enjoying the various platforms and exchanging conversations with those you meet that you reap the most benefits. You never know who you’ll meet or who they might turn out to be. Glad to hear you had a great tour today and that you had an opportunity to sample the power of our platform. I am seeing more activity in Truro on Foursquare. Hopefully I am creating more interest for social media here 🙂
I am truly humbled by your kind words for myself and for Radian6 Jeff. Since I too am still trying to get that mayorship back I may see you at the Truro Mall! I am glad that we were able to connect and become a case study for how social media can bring together the right people at just the right time to make great things happen.
