My grand father was a smart man. He had this saying…”You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar”. He was right. Here’s a video to bring home that point.
The social media science guy Dan Zarrella says to go either positive or negative in your postings on social media. Being neutral on social media will not get you a lot of attention. People might even think that you are boring. Look at all the attention Rob Ford from Toronto is getting. He’s going the negative route.
At this point I want to ask you what type of community are you building around you? You can build it up with positive followers or negative ones. Which would you prefer to build with? For me, I want to build with a great group of positive encouraging individuals. I want my social media community to be known for their great works.
So whether you live in Halifax, Cole Harbour, Dartmouth, Truro or elsewhere, you need to build your social media community up with others. So let that community be a vibrant one. One way to do so is to be the first one out of the gate. Don’t wait for others to encourage you. Get out there and start encouraging others on your social media. They will feel good about what you are doing and you will feel good in the end. People don’t get enough encouragement. Your encouragement might be the only kind words that they hear all day.
You never know, you might just become a great role model for others around you. Lord knows we could use more. Get some “Honey” out there right now 🙂
